Top 5 Movies with Beach Vacay Vibes

The Talented Mr. Ripley (1998) — Ignoring the more, let’s say murdery parts of this film, let’s focus on the beauty. Who doesn’t want to be on the Italian coast, wearing lime green short shorts, visiting Jazz clubs and drinking wine? Or zipping around Italy on a Vespa wearing Gucci loafers with no socks. This movie is all vibes, like, it’s about being super rich and just having a brat European summer.

The Endless Summer (1966) — Unlike the other films on this list, this is a documentary, but it might as well be a work of fiction. Two dudes decide that if you just keep flying to warm, tropical destinations, summer doesn’t have to end (see: generational wealth, above). Lots of taut, bronzed bodies, antics in the water, and the answer to the question, “Can money buy happiness?” (Spoiler Alert: Yes.).

Blue Crush (2000) — Lots of hot people in bathing suits here. If you were watching the Summer Olympics and need more of the energy that the volleyball uniforms are giving, this film has got you in spades. It’s enough to make you want to sell everything you own to move to Hawaii and wait tables in between sharing a house with too many other people and surfing.

Spring Breakers (2002) — Like the talented Mr. Ripley, above, you have to set aside the more violent parts of this film and just focus on vibes. Look, who hasn’t wanted to go on a drug-fueled romp in a beach town? Like, sometimes you need to party with D-List musicians doing B-list drugs to have an A-list time.

Y Tu Mama Tambien (1999) — The millennial generation’s Challengers (aka thirst trap movie), this road trip film revolves around two (Cis, Het-ish) males on a road trip while their GFs are on holiday. They meet an older women, and it proves that you don’t need generational wealth to have a great time, just an open mind.
